About Dr. Meimban

Dr. Cynthia Aguilar-Meimban is a former president of the Philippines Academy of Implant Dentistry (PAID),formerly Philippine Society of Implant Dentistry (PSID), her term from 1996-1997.

She has written various articles on dental implants, which has been published in dental journals. She also gives lectures on the subject in numerous dental societies. She is the first Filipina to become a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologist (ICOI). She is also a visiting dental implantologist at the Makati Medical Center.

Dr. Meimban, to her credit, is the first Asian dentist to use Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) on her patients. PRP is one of the greatest breakthroughs in modern medicine. The documented success of this technology has been proven scientifically. It is replete with undoubted and unquestionable data published in scores of international medical and dental journals and magazines.

PRP comes from a small amount of the patient's own blood and is processed in a dual spin centrifuge machine, a feature available in Dr. Meimban's clinic. PRP contains huge amounts of healing factors which are up to 600% higher than a baseline or ordinary level. This advancement enormously improves and enchances wound healing, as well as the bone density of patients. PRP is a great advantage to those patients who have medical problems, such as: elderly patients, patients with osteoporosis, and patients with diabetes.

Aside from these benifits, once PRP is used in any surgical procedure, pain and swelling will be reduced dramatically. The healing process of soft and hard tissues will also be significally improved and sped up.

Dr. Meimban's latest article, "Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) and Its Growth Factors," has been recently published in the October-December 2003 issue of the dental journal of the Philippine Dental Association (PDA).
