History


The Pulmonary Service is a unit which aims to provide immediate assistance to patients with reliable and effective therapeutic procedures in nebulization and assisted ventilation, and with accurate and reliable diagnostic procedure on Pulmonary Function Test and Arterial Blood Gas Analysis.

The Pulmonary Service was opened on July 9, 1979 to centralize the use of all Pulmonary Equipment. On January 16, 1992, the Pulmonary Fellowship Training Program in Pulmonary Diseases of Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) was accredited by the Philippines College of Chest Physicians (affiliate specialty society of the Philippine Medical Association). Since then, the Pulmonary Service has provided valuable training for Pulmonary Fellows. Respiratory Therapists participate in continuing medical and technical education for the efficient delivery of services.

New services in the form of Sleep Study Section, a modern Pulmonary Function Tests with Body Phlethysmograph, and Critical Care Equipment shall be available for better assessment and care of patients. Through the Pulmonary Service, Manila Doctors Hospital shall be leading force in patient care addressing every respiratory need of patients.

Operating Schedule

The section is OPEN TWENTY FOUR (24) HOURS DAILY.  There are at least three (3) staff members available at the section at any given time. The schedule is as follows:

Morning Shift    – 07:00 AM – 03:00 PM

Afternoon Shift - 03:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Night Shift                    - 11:00 PM – 07:00 AM
