The personal and economic impact of infections acquired by the hospitalized patients should be realized. Personal incapacitation, emotional stress, prolonged illness and hospitalization and death are well known consequences of infection. The financial cost to the patient and to the hospital is considerable.

Infection Control Committee (ICC) was first formed sometime during the directorate of Dr. Ambrosio Tangco and was officially established by the hospital year 2000 under the chairmanship of Dr. Melecia A. Velmonte up to the present. Infection Control Committee acquired an office in 2001 and started to form its members represented by different departments and started to developed policies, guidelines and programs appropriate to the facilities and set-up of Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH).

HIV/AIDS Committee

The HIV/AIDS Committee Core Team (HACT) was created year 2003 as sub-committee of Infection Control Committee under the chairmanship of Dr. Melecia A. Velmonte and the team is represented by the members from Blood Transfusion Committee, Nursing Service, Laboratory, and Social Service Departments. Last February 16, 2005 HACT was officially established by the hospital and made it as one of the Hospital Committee and Office at the Infection Control Committee.
