Dr. Hildegardes "Hil" C.Dineros, a leading proponent of
Bariatric Surgery in the Philippines, promotes the holistic approach
in solving the problem of morbidly obese patients. His philosophy of
a successful operation not only involves a cure of the physical ailment,
but a healing of the mind and spirit of the patient as well.
Dr. Dineros is also the Medical Director of Asian Bariatrics, an advocacy
group committed to helping minimize the incidence of severe obesity.
According to him, people who are 100 pounds over their ideal weight
and with a body mass index of more than 40 are classified as morbidly
obese. They are really the ones who would require aggressive treatment
in managing obesity and are likely candidates for bariatric surgery.
More importantly, when the patient has tried all the conservative
approaches in losing weight such as diet, exercise, slimming pills
etc and is having health problems associated with obesity---hypertension,
diabetes, coronary heart disease, among others---then bariatric surgery
is recommended. Asian Bariatrics holds free seminars on obesity every
last Saturday of the month, 10 am to 12 noon, at the Quezon City Sports
Club, Philippines.
Aside from Bariatric Surgery, Dr. Dineros also specializes in laparoscopic,
general and cancer surgery, aesthetic and plastic surgery, Complex
Wound Care and Bariatric Medicine. He is a Diplomate of the Philippine
Board of Surgery, a Fellow of Philippine College of Surgeons and American
College of Surgeons, and a member of American Society for Bariatric
Surgery. Curently, he maintains an active practice at Healing Hand
Clinic, and his practice in Bariatric Surgery at the Asia Pacific
Bariatric Surgery Center (ABC), both at St Luke's Medical Center.
